What Is the Windows App?
The Windows App is a unified client developed by Microsoft that allows users to access:
- Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
- Windows 365 Cloud PCs
- Microsoft Dev Box
- Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
- Remote PCs (configured by your organization)
It’s available on multiple platforms including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, web browsers, and even Meta Quest (in preview).
Note: The Windows App is not a general-purpose remote desktop client. It does not support direct connections to standalone virtual machines (VMs). It only works with managed services like AVD and Windows 365.
Microsoft has discontinued support for the Remote Desktop App. Users are encouraged to transition to the Windows App for accessing Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 Cloud PCs.

How to Get Started

Use your work or school account. Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported.

Once signed in, your available desktops and apps will appear. Just click to connect!
